Measurement

This week in Math, we started learning about measurement. This year and next year, students will not be using “standard” tools (rulers, measuring cups, weights, etc.) to measure. Instead, they will be using “non-standard” tools. These non-standard tools could be anything, as long as you use the same type of item throughout the measurement. This week, we used cubes, bugs, blocks, linking chains, magnets, bears, and Goldfish crackers to practice measuring length and height. We also compared items to see which was taller/shorter or longer/shorter. The kids and I both had a fun time learning/teaching about measurement.
