Today was Silly Sock Day!

We also worked on Counting Collections for the first time today. We worked with a partner to count our collections and recorded the amount on papers. They did a fabulous job!

Reminders for Wednesday

Tomorrow is picture day, fundraiser packets are due, and we have PE (pictures will be before PE and recess).

PTA Update

The PTA is having a Box Tops contest within the school. It will run from today (Sept. 25) through Oct. 27. Please send in any Box Tops, Coke lids, and soup or Tyson labels you may have. Connect as many Box Tops as you can to the sheets provided (they are being sent home today). Send any extra in baggies and I will take care of them.

There will be a prize for the class winner of the best decorated container (I will take care of that). There will also be a pizza party and smelly pencil prize for the grade that collects the most.

All fundraiser materials are due this Wednesday. This is also the last day to turn in your coupon for a chicken key chain. October 19 is the delivery day for the items ordered.

The PTA is also looking for Book Fair volunteers. The Book Fair will be held Nov. 16-17 and 20-21. Any volunteer will receive 10% off purchases. The grade level with the most volunteers will get to pick something from their class wishlist.

The PTA would love to see you at their meetings. They are held on the 3rd Monday of the month at 5:30 in the Middle School library. “Like” the Clarinda PTA page on Facebook for more of their updates.

Clarinda Rocks!

We painted some rocks this week to hide around town. There is a Facebook Page called Clarinda Rocks where you can post pictures of rocks you've found or hidden. Each kiddo is bringing their rock home in a Ziplock and you can go with them to hide it somewhere in town. Enjoy!

The kids have been doing a wonderful job drawing pictures and learning to write words and sentences to go with their pictures. Look how hard they worked this morning!

Rainy Day

The rain today made for an indoor recess kind of day. We got to spend our afternoon recess relaxing and enjoying some Curious George! It was nice to have a little time to rest today.

Daily 5

We started practicing Daily 5 this morning. This is a time when students work in small groups and complete different reading/literacy activities. Once the students get used to the routine and can work independently, I will be able to have a small group work with me.

Today we got A LOT of compliments on how well behaved we were and how nice we line up at recess. Mrs. Hill gave out a lot of compliments to the class today too! Keep up the awesome work!

Homecoming

Homecoming is next Friday. This form needs to be filled out and returned by Wednesday. We are strongly encouraging parents to pick their children up early to take them to the parade. We will be attending Coronation at the square after the parade, so the busses will be late getting home on Friday. Pick up dismissal time will also probably be late next Friday.
