This week we have been learning about leaders and voting. We discussed leaders in our houses, at school, in our town, in our state, and in our country. We then learned about voting. We learned about ballots, voting booths, how to vote, and how what or who we are voting for can be a private decision (or a secret). Since we are not 18, we talked about how we are not old enough to vote for President and we stayed away from talking about the current election. After learning about voting, we got a chance to vote. We had to choose what candy we would like to eat, Nerds or Laffy Taffy. Some of us didn't like either candy, so we discussed how sometimes we might decide not to vote or would have to choose what we think might be the best. We then took turns voting in our own voting booths and put our ballots in a basket. After all the ballots were cast, we found out what candy won and that was the candy everybody got, even if it wasn't the one they voted for.

We had a great time on our field trip to the Rose Theater in Omaha! After, we stopped for a picnic at Sunset Park in Council Bluffs. Thanks to the Clarinda PTA for paying for our kids to go and see Shrek the Musical. We had a blast!!
